Palestinians shot by settlers; land seizure orders issued

Ramallah, October 6 (Petra) – Several Palestinians were shot by
illegal Israeli settlers on Tuesday, while three others including AFP
photojournalist Jafar Ishtayeh were beaten in the town of Aqraba,
south of Nablus.

The Palestinian Red Crescent Society said its teams treated the
injured at the scene and transported several of them to hospital for
further treatment.

In Jenin, the Wall and Settlement Resistance Commission said the
Israeli occupation authorities had issued a new military order to
seize 0.741 dunams of land in the Al-Jabriyat neighborhood, which
lies within the area classified as “Area A,” citing what they
described as “urgent military purposes.”

The commission said the order targets plots in Basin 20071 and
partially overlaps with land previously targeted by a military order
issued last May, creating a contiguous area.

The order is valid for 60 days, with a 24-hour period for submitting
objections, it said.

The commission warned that the significance of the decision extends
beyond the size of the targeted area, saying the cumulative impact of
successive orders to seize land and establish corridors threatens the
Palestinian urban fabric within the classified area.

In occupied Jerusalem, Israeli occupation forces demolished a
five-story residential building containing 10 apartments in the
Al-Tur neighbourhood, following a raid involving several military
vehicles.

The Jerusalem Governorate said the authorities had issued the
residents a final demolition notice on Monday, following years of
legal proceedings involving demolition orders and financial fines,
while refusing to grant the owners building permits.

According to the governorate, the authorities carried out 139
demolition and leveling operations in Jerusalem during the third
quarter of 2026 and issued 150 notices and orders related to
demolition, eviction and land seizure. Of those, 140 concerned
demolition.

The UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) has
documented the demolition of approximately 170 Palestinian structures
in East Jerusalem since the beginning of the year, citing the absence
of building permits.

OCHA has highlighted the difficulties Palestinians face in obtaining
such permits, as well as an escalation in demolition and eviction
operations and the concerns these actions raise under international
humanitarian law.
