QSA Opens Registration for Third Katara Falcons and Hunting Championship in December

Doha, October 12 (QNA) – The Qatari Society of Al Gannas (QSA) announced that online registration for the third Katara Falcons and Hunting Championship 2026 would take place Dec. 2–3.

Director of Championships at QSA and Chairman of the Marmi Festival, Metab Al Qahtani, said the tournament had been scheduled to begin on Nov. 21 but was postponed until December by the organizing committee.

The qualifying rounds of the Saluki Race will take place Dec. 5, followed by the final on Dec. 12, Al Qahtani added. The championship will be held at Sabkhat Marmi in Sealine, while the Al Da’wa and Al Talaa competitions are set to begin Dec. 8.

Details of the Promising Falconer Championship, including registration and scheduling arrangements, will be announced well ahead of the tournament to give prospective participants time to enter, Al Qahtani explained.

Deputy Director of Championships at QSA and the Marmi Festival, Abdul Wahab bin Omair Al Nuaimi, said the tournament would feature several competitions: multiple Al Da’wa rounds, the Al Talaa competition for the Free Qarnass category, the Promising Falconer Championship in the Taba’ and Qarmousha categories, and the Saluki Race for male and female dogs.

The third edition will feature a dedicated Al Da’wa round for each falcon category, along with two rounds for homegrown bred falcons and an elite round for the Gyr category, bringing the total to 12 rounds, he said.

QSA’s championships aim to help falconers preserve Qatar’s time-honored falconry heritage while promoting competition with domestic, regional, and international reach. (QNA)
