Oman Joins Global Community in Observing World Standards Day

Muscat, 13 October 2026 (ONA) —
The Sultanate of Oman will tomorrow join the international community in marking the World
Standards Day, observed annually on the 14th October. This year’s theme,
“A Shared Vision for a Better World”, underscores the central role of
standards in grooming communities to adopt higher levels of safety and
sustainability.

The event also seeks to foster
international cooperation to address challenges in economic, environmental and
technical sectors.

Standards serve as a common medium
that unites different sectors, to enable them to establish benchmarks that
contribute to enhancing the quality of products and services, improving
operational efficiency and boosting safety and consumer protection, in addition
to supporting trade and facilitating market access for products.

The Directorate General of Standards
and Metrology at the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion said
that 24 Omani standards were issued in 2026. Those standards cover the fields
of energy and electrical appliances. They include the standard titled
“Grid interconnection of photovoltaic power generation systems”, which
deals with procedures to test power conversion equipments.
