Amman, Oct. 13 (Petra) – Pope Leo XIV was admitted to Rome’s Agostino
Gemelli University Policlinic on Tuesday to undergo surgery to remove
a localized lung nodule, Director of the Holy See Press Office Matteo
Bruni announced.
The pontiff previously disclosed the upcoming procedure, explaining
that recent routine medical tests detected the small, localized
nodule at an early stage.
Doctors expect Pope Leo XIV to remain hospitalized for about a week
to recover.
In response, the Prefecture of the Papal Household canceled all papal
audiences through October 20 to allow the pope sufficient time to
heal.
