Doha 2030 Asian Games Flag Tour Kicks Off in Qatar

Doha, October 19 (QNA) – The Organising Committee for the Doha 2030 Asian Games has launched the Games’ flag tour across Qatar, with visits planned to schools, universities and institutions throughout the country. The initiative follows Qatar’s official receipt of the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) flag during the closing ceremony of the 20th Asian Games, Aichi-Nagoya 2026, in Japan, marking a new phase in preparations for Doha’s hosting of the continental sporting event in 2030.

Since its launch, the tour has visited several educational institutions, including ‘Academyati School’ of Qatar Foundation, Qatar Academy, Doha University of Science and Technology, and Qatar University. The initiative has given students the opportunity to see the flag up close and meet athletes from various sports, including champions and medal winners whose achievements serve as an inspiration to future generations.

Over the coming weeks, the flag will travel to additional schools, universities and institutions across Qatar. The initiative aims to engage all segments of society in the journey towards the Doha 2030 Asian Games, providing young people, athletes, families and organisations with opportunities to connect with and participate in the highly anticipated sporting event.

Chief Executive Officer of the Doha 2030 Asian Games Organising Committee, Dr Ahmed Abdullah Al Buainain said that the arrival of the Asian Games flag in Qatar marks an important milestone on the road to Doha 2030.

He added that the tour was designed to bring the flag to individuals and communities who would help shape the journey towards the Games, particularly younger generations who would grow up in the build-up to the event, participate in its activities and become part of the experience in all participating schools, universities to institutions across the country.

Al Buainain noted that the flag tour would create opportunities for engagement and interaction while highlighting the values of sport, ambition and bringing peoples together as Qatar prepares to welcome Asia to Doha in 2030.

The tour brings together Qatari athletes, students, teachers and institutional representatives through interactive activities that encourage dialogue and the exchange of views on their aspirations for the Doha 2030 Asian Games.

It also offers an opportunity to reflect on the values of sport and ambition, while revisiting the legacy of the Doha 2006 Asian Games and connecting it with a new generation growing up amid preparations for Doha 2030. The upcoming Games represent another milestone in the development of sport in Qatar and across Asia.

The flag tour forms part of the broader preparations for the Doha 2030 Asian Games and embodies the spirit of the event’s slogan, “The Games We Live For”, bringing athletes, young people and communities together through the unifying power of sport. (QNA)
