KHARTOUM (SUNA) – The Economic Development Sector of the Council of Ministers reviewed, at its meeting on Wednesday chaired by Finance Minister Dr. Gebreil Ibrahim, a programme to promote investment among Sudanese expatriates to help finance livestock production cities, which are considered strategic projects capable of opening up new foreign markets. The sector stressed the importance of establishing financial and banking mechanisms to attract the savings of Sudanese nationals abroad and coordinate their channelling into investment projects. This would be achieved by presenting clear, transparent and economically viable projects, while taking into account the circumstances and needs of Sudanese expatriates when designing investment opportunities, including small and medium-sized projects suited to their financial capacities. The sector also underscored the need to make use of the existing infrastructure available to the Ministry of Animal Resources and Fisheries and develop it to meet the requirements of livestock production cities and investors’ needs. It further called for the establishment of an interactive online platform dedicated to Sudanese expatriates to showcase investment opportunities, provide relevant information, enable the submission of applications and facilitate the tracking of procedures, with specialised consultancy firms to be engaged whenever necessary.BH/BH
