Doha, October 25 (QNA) – Spokesperson for UN Trade and Development (UNCTAD) Marcelo Risi praised the strategic partnership between the State of Qatar and the World Investment Forum, affirming that Qatar represents a principal model in global investment owing to its international standing and forward-looking approach to policymaking and creating opportunities both domestically and internationally.
Speaking to Qatar News Agency (QNA), Risi explained that the ninth edition of the World Investment Forum 2026, hosted by the State of Qatar in partnership with UN Trade and Development (UNCTAD) under the theme “Investing in the Future,” convenes capital providers, project developers, and policymakers to drive investment and align it with global development goals. He noted that the forum examines foreign direct investment (FDI) trends and their direct relation to development, alongside exploring emerging opportunities in artificial intelligence, culture, and tourism.
He added that the forum carries heightened significance given current geopolitical and geo-economic challenges, emphasizing the imperative of strengthening international dialogue and cooperation, and moving beyond headlines to understand the underlying factors that render investments attractive and sustainable for the future.
Risi stressed that realizing sustainable investments requires developing infrastructure, enhancing skills, building institutional capacity, and strengthening robust governance frameworks capable of implementing long-term policies. (QNA)
