5.2-Magnitude Earthquake Strikes Hindu Kush Region, Afghanistan

Kabul, October 26 (QNA) – A 5.2-magnitude earthquake struck the Hindu Kush region in Afghanistan.

The European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) reported that the earthquake occurred at a depth of 110 kilometers. It was felt by residents in the capital, Kabul, as well as in the northwestern regions of neighboring Pakistan.

There have been no immediate reports of casualties or significant material damage resulting from the earthquake.

Afghanistan is located in a seismically active zone due to the convergence of tectonic plates. The country lies near the collision zone between the Indian and Eurasian plates, which frequently leads to seismic tremors—particularly in the mountainous regions of the northeast, including the Hindu Kush mountain range.
