Precipitation up at 85pct of annual average

Amman, Mar. 19 (Petra) — Precipitation levels since the start of winter increased to 85.5 percent of Jordan’s long-term average of 8.1 billion cubic meters, the Ministry of Water and Irrigation said on Sunday.

The highest rainfall of 21.4 millimeters was recorded in Madaba in the last 24 hours, constituting 72.4 percent of the annual average.

A total of 700,000 cubic meters were channeled into dams, upping their storage to 117 million cubic meters, or 41.65 of their total capacity of 280.759 million cubic meters.
