Amman, Aug. 6 (Petra)– Seventeen soldiers and officers were killed
and others injured in Houthi militia attacks using ballistic missiles
and drones against military positions in Yemen’s Hadramout and Marib
governorates, the Yemeni Armed Forces’ Joint Operations Command said.

In a statement carried by the Yemeni News Agency (Saba) on Thursday
evening, the command said the attacks targeted forces carrying out
counterterrorism and organized crime operations, including efforts to
disrupt Houthi weapons and drug-smuggling networks.

The forces had achieved significant successes in recent months in
thwarting terrorist plots, dismantling explosive devices,
apprehending smuggling networks and foiling attempts aimed at
destabilizing security and stability in the liberated governorates,
the statement said.

It described the attack as a criminal act that exposes the nature of
the Houthi project, which, it said, consistently directs its weapons
against the Yemeni people and national institutions responsible for
protecting them.

The command affirmed that the armed forces, in all their formations,
remain fully prepared to carry out their duties, stressing that the
attack would only strengthen their resolve and determination to
fulfill their mission of restoring state institutions and asserting
state sovereignty across the country.
