19th Green Abaya Festival kicks off in Ajloun

Ajloun, Aug. 8 (Petra) — The 19th Green Abaya Festival for the year
2026 launched on Saturday at the Ajloun Cultural Center, organized by
the Ajloun Culture Directorate in cooperation with local cultural
organizations, under the patronage of Amjad Al-Afif, Director of
Cultural Associations representing the Minister of Culture.

Director of Ajloun Culture Directorate Samer Freihat highlighted that
the Green Abaya Festival serves as a prominent cultural landmark in
the governorate, reflecting the Ministry of Culture’s commitment to
encouraging local artists and empowering creative talent.

Freihat added that reaching its 19th edition demonstrates the
festival’s sustained success within Ajloun’s cultural scene, noting
that this year’s program combines artistic, cultural, and family
entertainment events to boost community engagement.

Ibrahim Bani Atta, cultural coordinator at the directorate, stated
that the festival underscores the region’s rich diversity and aligns
with royal visions prioritizing human-centered development through
culture. He noted that active cultural programming serves as a key
tool in fostering belonging and countering extremist ideology.

The opening day featured a variety of poetry readings, a family and
kids’ carnival, and interactive performances designed to engage
visitors of all ages.
