4.9-Magnitude Earthquake Strikes US State Alaska

Washington, August 02 (QNA) – An earthquake measuring 4.9 on the Richter scale struck the US state of Alaska on Sunday.

The US Geological Survey reported that the quake’s epicenter was located at a depth of 35 kilometers.

There have been no reports of casualties or material damage due to the earthquake so far.

Alaska lies within the Pacific Ring of Fire, a region of intense seismic and volcanic activity caused by the collision of tectonic plates. (QNA)
