Irbid, Jan. 9 (Petra) -Princess Basma Center for Jordanian Women’s Studies at Yarmouk University recently conducted a survey on women’s participation in Jordan’s political and partisan life.

According to a university statement Thursday, the survey, which featured a sample of 1,484 women, aimed to collect information on their “effective” engagement in political activities and understand their motivations and experiences.

Results would contribute to developing strategies and programs that support women’s political empowerment, the statement said.

Held in cooperation with Jordanian Masarat for Development and Progress, the poll revealed that 41.6% of respondents engaged in Jordan’s political activities in the past five years, while 16.7% affirmed “national duty motivated their participation.”

36.1% expressed their feeling that Jordan’s political parties spur their political engagement “effectively,” the poll found.

Additionally, 57.9% of participants said various means of support are necessary to help overcome challenges, while 12.4% referred to their need for assistance in leadership training and skills development.

The poll also found out 5.5% needs support in making legal and political reforms to develop the experience.
