5.1-Magnitude Earthquake Strikes Papua New Guinea

Port Moresby, May 17 (QNA) – An earthquake measuring 5.1 on the Richter scale struck Papua New Guinea on Sunday.

The US Geological Survey reported that the earthquake’s epicenter was located at a depth of 10 km.

Papua New Guinea lies within the Ring of Fire, a seismically and volcanic active zone along the Pacific Ocean. This region contains 90% of the world’s active volcanoes. (QNA)
