Washington, August 08 (QNA) – An earthquake of magnitude 5.5 struck the Skwentna area of the US State of Alaska, the US Geological Survey (USGS) said on Saturday.
The quake struck at a depth of 200 meters. There were no immediate reports of casualties or property damage.
Alaska was also hit by a magnitude 4.9 earthquake on Sunday.
The state lies along the Pacific Ring of Fire, a seismically active zone where tectonic plates meet and interact, making it prone to frequent earthquakes and volcanic activity. (QNA)
