Amman, Sept. 29 (Petra) — Jordanian tennis star Abdullah Shelbayeh captured the Las Vegas Challenger 75 title on Sunday evening, defeating American Alex Rybakov in straight sets to secure his second career Challenger crown.
The victory is another milestone for Shelbayeh, who continues to make strides on the international stage. Challenger events, organized under the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP), are considered the second tier of global competition after the ATP Tour. They provide rising players with vital opportunities to improve their rankings and qualify for major tournaments.
Thanks to his triumph in Las Vegas, Shelbayeh is projected to climb 135 places in the ATP world rankings, reaching No. 302, his highest career position to date.
Shelbayeh’s latest success not only highlights his growing potential on the professional circuit but also represents a significant achievement for Jordanian tennis, which has seen limited presence at this level of international competition.
