Acting Lower House Chief, GAM head review municipality projects, plans

Amman, Aug 26 (Petra) – Acting Speaker of the Lower House Khamis
Atiyeh on Wednesday called for supporting development and investment
plans to elevate the level of services in Amman and carry out
projects that positively impact the service and development
landscape.

The Acting Speaker spoke at a meeting with newly-appointed Chairman
of the Greater Amman Municipality (GAM) Committee Ahmad Malkawi,
wishing him success in serving the capital’s people.

Atiyeh noted the municipality implements job-creating development
projects and investment and economic programs, which contribute
poverty reduction and unemployment, as well as developing
infrastructure and public facilities to meet the needs of the
capital’s residents.

He lauded GAM for supporting the cultural, artistic, and literary
movement, and the facilities and spaces it provides for hosting
cultural events.

For his part, Malkawi noted the legislature’s oversight functions,
following up on service and development matters, and addressing
citizens’ needs.

The GAM head reviewed key projects currently underway, as well as
plans for the coming period.
