Acting Chargé d’Affaires of the Sudanese Embassy in Paris, Ambassador Hamid Al-Juzouli Khalid, received on Thursday at his office France’s new Special Envoy for the Horn of Africa and Sudan, Ambassador Jean-Marie Safa, accompanied by Arnold Logouy, the Sudan Desk Officer at the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs. The Acting Chargé d’Affaires congratulated the French envoy on assuming his new duties and outlined the Sudanese government’s efforts to prepare for reconstruction, as well as arrangements for launching a national dialogue and a comprehensive political process under civilian leadership. He affirmed Sudan’s hope for French support in addressing humanitarian and development challenges. For his part, the French envoy noted that Sudan possesses significant historical foundations and enormous human and economic resources that qualify it to overcome its current crisis. He affirmed France’s interest in the Sudanese file, stressing the importance of national dialogue in achieving a ceasefire and sustainable peace. He also referred to President Emmanuel Macron’s interest in the Sudanese file and the French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot’s desire to visit Sudan.BH/BH
