Cairo, Nov. 30 (Petra) – Jordan’s Permanent Representative to the Arab League, Ambassador Amjad Adaileh, took part in the commemoration of the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People, held at the Arab League headquarters in Cairo with the participation of permanent representatives, foreign diplomatic missions, and representatives of Arab and international organizations in Egypt.
The Arab League stressed that the commemoration aims to reaffirm the justice of the Palestinian cause and express solidarity with the Palestinian people in their legitimate struggle to end the occupation, achieve freedom and independence, and establish their sovereign, independent state with East Jerusalem as its capital, in line with relevant international legitimacy resolutions and the Arab Peace Initiative.
A number of wounded Palestinians attended the event. Jordan, under Royal directives, has made significant and ongoing efforts to provide medical care to Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank through the field hospitals established by the Jordan Armed Forces–Arab Army and operated by the Royal Medical Services. These hospitals, set up in various areas of the West Bank and Gaza, have long provided continuous medical treatment.
Medical teams from the Royal Medical Services participating in the Royal Initiative “Restoring Hope” continue to receive patients from Gaza, including amputees, with hundreds of prosthetic limbs provided through the initiative.
Jordan has also launched, under the directives and close follow-up of His Majesty King Abdullah II and HRH Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II, sustained efforts to receive and treat thousands of injured children from Gaza through the “Jordanian Medical Corridor,” which continues to serve large numbers of Gazan children.
During the event, solidarity statements were delivered by the Arab League, the United Nations, Egypt, Palestine, Al-Azhar, and the Coptic Orthodox Church. A short film was screened portraying the suffering of the Palestinian people under ongoing Israeli occupation, including ethnic cleansing, forced displacement, and the denial of their right to self-determination.
In the presence of Arab League Secretary-General Ahmed Aboul Gheit, several institutions were honored for their efforts to support and assist the Palestinian people, as well as members of Palestinian society for their resilience and sacrifices.
