Amman, July 23 (Petra) – Under royal directives, the Jordan Hashemite Charity Organization (JHCO), in coordination with the Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army (JAF), on Wednesday sent an aid convoy carrying food and medical supplies to Syria.

The aid to southern Syria came only hours after Jordanian aid trucks crossed into the Gaza Strip, part of the Kingdom’s support for “our Arab brothers during these exceptional circumstances.”

JHCO Secretary-General Hussein Shibli said the organization was in coordination with the Syrian government to bring in relief aid via the Jaber/Nassib border crossing to be distributed to those in need through the Syrian Red Crescent.

The 10-truck convoy, loaded at JHCO warehouses, carried various food items, including flour, as well as medicines and medical supplies, said Shibli.

“This emergency aid is to give a helping hand to our brothers in Syria, who have lived tough circumstances after the bloody events last week,” he said.

Shibli stressed the brotherly relations and neighborliness between the two countries and Jordan’s unwavering support of Syria’s stability and territorial integrity.
