Aqaba, May 21 (Petra) – Aqaba Development Corporation (ADC) and Jordan River Foundation (JRF) signed an agreement on Wednesday to support “Safe Spaces” project at Queen Rania Al Abdullah Community Empowerment Center (QRCEC), combat violence against children, and promote values ??of family cohesion and positive parenting models.

The project targets 5,000 children and adolescents in southern Aqaba governorate and will focus on enhancing life skills, violence prevention, family cohesion, and psychosocial support.

The vision will be carried out under a series of activities and live sessions, supervised by an QRCEC expert teamin Aqaba.

Talking at the signing ceremony, ADC CEO, Hussein Safadi, said the company “does not view the development of Aqaba solely as a tourist and investment city, but rather believes human and social dimension is the cornerstone of any sustainable development process.”

Safdai noted the agreement aims show the national and moral responsibility towards members of the local community, especially children, who deserve all protection and care.

Safadi added that support for launching “Safe Spaces” project in Aqaba stems from the company’s belief in the importance of providing household-centered psychological and social support.

This project, he noted, will create “safe” environment that enables children to grow up healthy and build independent, confident personalities capable of contributing to a better future.

Meanwhile, JRF general manager, Enaam Brishi, said the foundation’s projects seek to empower families and build community awareness, based on a culture of dialogue and positive parenting approaches.

Brishi noted the agreement represents an “important” shift in the JRF’s efforts to expand scope of its programs.

Under the agreement, she stated the JRF’s future programs are based on “scientific and experimental” foundations, relying on direct interaction with children and their families within various activities.

The JRF, she said, contributes to shaping “new” awareness and behavior among children, adolescents, and families, which would enhance their ability to deal with crises.
