Amman, May 18 (Petra) – The Jordan Cooperative Corporation (JCC) has signed an agreement with the International Labour Organization (ILO) aimed at digitizing data and services for Jordan’s cooperative sector, according to JCC Director General Abdulfattah Shalabi.

The agreement, approved on Sunday by the Council of Ministers chaired by Prime Minister Jaafar Hassan, seeks to develop an electronic database and provide digital services to enhance the cooperative framework in the country.

Speaking to the Jordan News Agency (Petra), Shalabi said the agreement supports the sector through training and empowering cooperative members to conceptualize and launch cooperatives. It also focuses on improving governance of agricultural cooperatives and promoting decent work across economic sectors.

He added that the partnership will help build institutional capacity in line with international standards.

Under the agreement, the JCC will adopt and localize ILO training tools and materials Think.Coop, Start.Coop, and My.Coop for use in its annual training programs. These resources will target newly established and forming cooperatives.

Spanning 2025 to 2027, the agreement aims to shift public awareness toward cooperative development, guide the establishment process, strengthen governance of agricultural cooperatives, promote decent working conditions, combat child labour, and ensure occupational safety and health in the agricultural sector.

According to the agreement, the JCC will provide training opportunities for 30 agricultural cooperatives in 2025 and 60 cooperatives over the following two years.
