Amman, Aug 26 (Petra) – Minister of Agriculture Saeb Khraisat said on
Wednesday the ministry attaches special attention to the date sector,
given its promising opportunities and its importance to farmers and
increasing the added value of agricultural products.
He called for developing the production, marketing, and processing
chain, and opening new markets for Jordanian dates.
The minister spoke at a meeting with the Jordanian Dates Association
(JODA) board, to follow up on the sector’s needs and efforts to
promote it and enhance its competitiveness.
Board members aired their observations and proposals, stressing the
importance of partnership and coordination between the ministry, the
private sector, and sector associations to help develop production,
improve quality, and promote Jordanian dates in local and global
markets. They spoke of the need to support farmers and exporters.
