Amman, May 17 (Petra) – The Agricultural Extension Division at the Ministry of Agriculture has launched a new initiative to integrate virtual reality (VR) technology into field schools, introducing a cutting-edge educational tool that transforms how agricultural knowledge is delivered.

The initiative is part of a broader strategy to harness artificial intelligence in the agricultural sector and overcome field-level challenges that limit the effectiveness of traditional training methods.

In a statement issued Saturday, the Ministry explained that the new training system offers a high-resolution digital simulation environment.

Using VR headsets, farmers can interact with immersive 3D scenarios designed to accurately reflect local field conditions. The system also helps develop key analytical skills such as decision-making and critical thinking.

At the same time, it allows trainers to monitor trainee behavior, track progress, and tailor content to each participant’s learning pace boosting the overall impact and practical value of the training.

A key advantage of this innovation is its field-ready design: it can be deployed through mobile labs without the need for complex infrastructure. This ensures equitable access to training opportunities, especially for youth and women in marginalized communities.

The system is also designed to integrate seamlessly into agricultural extension and vocational education programs.

So far, two fully functional virtual training systems have been developed, with four more currently in progress. The project is funded directly by the Ministry of Agriculture and is being implemented in collaboration with the Jordan Design and Development Bureau (JODDB), as part of efforts to scale up the initiative and strengthen the rural sector’s readiness for digital transformation.
