Ajloun, Aug. 13 (Petra) – Adventure tourism is gaining ground in
Ajloun Governorate, drawing visitors looking to combine nature
exploration with outdoor activities while providing a boost to local
tourism and businesses, tourism specialists noted.

Ajloun Governorate Council Committee Chair Muawiya Annab stated that
the governorate has the natural assets to become a leading
destination for adventure tourism, with its forests, hiking trails,
valleys, and scenic sites attracting visitors year-round.

He added that further developing this segment and improving related
services could diversify Ajloun’s tourism offering, encourage
visitors to stay longer, attract investment, and generate economic
opportunities for local communities.

Ajloun Forest Reserve Director Odai Qudah indicated that the reserve
has strengthened its position as an adventure tourism destination by
offering activities that immerse visitors in nature while introducing
them to Ajloun’s distinctive environment. These activities, he
explained, form part of the reserve’s sustainable tourism approach
and help attract visitors while supporting nearby communities through
employment and demand for local services and products.

Tour guide Issa Sharaa noted that Ajloun has an extensive network of
nature trails popular with hikers and adventure seekers, allowing
visitors to explore the governorate’s environmental diversity,
forests, valleys, and panoramic views. He added that better-developed
trails and professional guiding services can make these experiences
safer and more organized while helping protect natural sites and
promote responsible tourism.

Tourism content creator and activist Yasser Hananadeh pointed out
that social media has brought greater attention to natural sites that
were previously little known, encouraging young people and families
to explore destinations across the Kingdom. He added that content
creators have a responsibility to present destinations realistically
and highlight their diversity, which can help lesser-known sites
reach a wider audience.

Tourism business owner Woroud Khasawneh observed that the rise in
adventure tourism has increased demand for accommodation, hospitality
services, and locally made products in communities surrounding
tourist sites.

She added that the sector also offers opportunities for small
businesses to expand and diversify their services, contributing to
the local economy and creating jobs for residents of the governorate.
