Al-Eisir: Return of Media and Cultural Institutions to Khartoum Marks Step Toward Recovery and Social Cohesion

Khartoum, Feb. 6, 2026 (SUNA) – Minister of Culture, Information, Tourism and Antiquities Khalid Al-Eisir announced that Blue Nile Channel is preparing to resume broadcasting at the beginning of the holy month of Ramadan from inside Omdurman, continuing its recognized media and cultural mission. In a press statement issued today, the minister said the channel’s return comes alongside other broadcasters that have already resumed operations in support of the national media process from within the capital, Khartoum, as part of the broader recovery underway in the capital. He affirmed that the Ministry of Culture, Information, Tourism and Antiquities encourages this step and reiterates its full support for the return of all media, cultural, and artistic institutions to perform their national role and back efforts that present a true image of Sudan, reflect realities on the ground, and strengthen trust among citizens.Al-Eisir noted that the channel’s return represents significant support for reconstruction and community recovery efforts, given the central role of media in conveying facts objectively, reinforcing national spirit, and promoting the values of solidarity, compassion, and mutual support through responsible and professional programming serving all segments of society. He added that this also contributes to consolidating an inclusive national discourse that rejects tribalism and regionalism, promotes peaceful coexistence, and highlights unity along with the cultural and social contributions of all components of the Sudanese people. The minister stressed that the move comes at an appropriate time within a broad vision to strengthen partnership between public and private sector institutions — a partnership carrying a national role and message that supports stability and active participation in recovery and social cohesion efforts. He further said the occasion represents an opportunity to call on institutions and individuals alike to assume their role in combating hate speech, spreading hope among citizens, promoting social awareness during the recovery and rebuilding phase, and advancing the values of peace, tolerance, solidarity, and national unity.BH/BH
