Al-Mansouri Announces Establishment of Livestock Production Cities in Line with International Standards

Wad Madani, August 10, 2026 (SUNA) – Minister of Animal Resources and Fisheries, Professor Ahmed Al-Tijani Al-Mansouri, announced the ministry’s intention to establish specialized livestock production cities in accordance with international requirements and standards and link them with universities in the states. The announcement was made during a visit by a delegation from the Ministry of Animal Resources and Fisheries, headed by the minister, to Al-Gezira State on Monday. The Gezira State Security Committee, headed by the Secretary-General of the State Government and representative of the Wali, Mortada Ismail Al-Beeli, welcomed the delegation. The delegation held a joint meeting in Wad Madani, attended by the Governor of Al-Gezira Scheme, Engineer Ibrahim Mustafa, to discuss ways of advancing the livestock and fisheries sectors in the state. The minister said his visit to Al-Gezira aimed to inspect the lands proposed for the livestock production cities and ensure that they are legally cleared and free of disputes, in preparation for presenting them to businesspersons, donors, and investors interested in investing in the sector. Meanwhile, Minister of Production and Economic Resources, Dr. Arfa Mahmoud, announced the resumption of activities in the agricultural and livestock sectors in the state. She affirmed that Al-Gezira is well positioned to attract investment in both sectors, given its comparative advantages and abundant resources. In the same context, the Governor of the Gezira Scheme announced the possibility of integrating livestock into the agricultural cycle, operating dairy factories, and establishing milk collection points and centers. He also highlighted the possibility of utilizing the scheme’s water areas and irrigation canals for fish farming.BH/BH
