Al-Mansouri, Northern State Wali Discuss Establishment of Livestock Production City

Khartoum, June 16, 2026 (SUNA) — Minister of Animal Resources and Fisheries Prof. Ahmed Al-Tijani Al-Mansouri has stressed the importance of involving the national and foreign private sector, the University of Dongola, and the Agricultural Bank in livestock development projects in Northern State, particularly the planned Livestock Production City. This came during his meeting on Tuesday in Khartoum with Northern State Wali Lt. Gen. Abdelrahman Abdelhamid, in the presence of Dr. Al-Tayib Habiballah, Secretary-General of the Higher Council for Animal Resources, and Dr. Amir Hassan Al-Bashir, Director-General of the Ministry of Finance and Workforce, in the state. The minister outlined the need to establish a livestock production and advanced bio-industrial city encompassing dairy, meat, fish, feed, and honey production, in addition to scorpion and snake venom production, as well as crocodile and ostrich meat and leather industries. He said the proposed city would enhance value addition, boost exports, create employment opportunities, and transform the state into a regional hub for bio-industrial and food processing industries. For his part, Northern State Wali Lt. Gen. Abdelrahman Abdelhamid said the state holds strong potential in livestock and fisheries projects and expressed optimism about their implementation and development. He also pledged to allocate land for the proposed Livestock Production City and to support the involvement of the private sector and the University of Dongola in its implementation.BH/BH
