Amman, Sept. 16 (Petra) — The 15th edition of the Amman Marathon has secured international road race certification from the World Athletics Federation and the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races (AIMS), positioning Amman among the world’s leading cities hosting globally recognized races, alongside Berlin, London, and Boston.

The certification ensures that all race distances are officially measured and approved to the highest international standards, allowing results to be recognized worldwide. It also provides both local and international athletes with the chance to achieve qualifying times for major global championships. The recognition further strengthens Jordan’s standing as a regional and global destination for sports and tourism.

Organized by Run Jordan, the Amman Marathon has become the Kingdom’s largest sporting event, attracting thousands of runners from across the globe under the slogan “Run in the Heart of Amman.”

Lina Kurdi, General Manager of the Jordanian Marathon Association, expressed pride in the achievement, noting that it reflects years of dedicated effort and reaffirms the commitment to hosting a world-class event that enhances Jordan’s presence on the international sports stage.

She also extended gratitude to the Jordan Athletics Federation and the Jordan Olympic Committee for their continuous support and close cooperation, which she said were instrumental in obtaining this prestigious international recognition.
