Secretary-General of the Arab Economic Unity Council, Ambassador Dr. Mohamed Ahmed Al-Ni, said that Sudan’s efforts to develop its economy are highly appreciated and respected, affirming that Sudan possesses significant capabilities that qualify it for economic advancement. Speaking at the opening of the Sudanese-Arab Smart Transport Forum, held on Sunday at Al Salam Rotana Hotel in Khartoum under the theme “Towards Smart and Sustainable Partnership for Rebuilding Transport Sectors,” he said that developing the transport sector falls within a national vision covering the Arab world in general and Sudan in particular. He added that the council will work to establish partnerships that contribute to the overall development of transport in Sudan, supporting economic development and reconstruction. He noted that the Arab Economic Unity Council had launched an initiative in Cairo to rehabilitate transport sectors and was coordinating with a number of major Arab companies to achieve the goal of supporting Sudan’s reconstruction. He stressed that the current era requires greater efforts to keep pace with technological advancement, noting that transport has evolved into an integrated system that contributes to achieving sustainable development.BH/BH
