Amman, May 19 (Petra) – Khalil Haj Tawfiq, President of the Jordan Chamber of Commerce, announced that the Executive Office and Board of Directors of the Arab-German Chamber of Commerce and Industry have agreed to convene a meeting in the Kingdom of Jordan, following an official invitation extended by the Jordan Chamber of Commerce.

Haj Tawfiq stated that the invitation was formally presented during the meeting of the Executive Office and Board of Directors held on Monday in Berlin. The invitation received a positive reception, notably in light of His Majesty King Abdullah II’s recent engagement with German business leaders during his visit to Berlin, where he encouraged them to explore investment opportunities in Jordan.

He highlighted that this upcoming meeting will mark the first time the Executive Office convenes outside Germany, underscoring its strategic importance. Coordination between the Arab-German Chamber and the Jordan Chamber of Commerce is underway to finalize the date and logistical details.

The meeting will be held alongside the Arab-German Business Forum in Amman, which will serve as a pivotal platform to promote Jordan’s investment landscape to Arab and German investors. The forum aims to highlight opportunities across various sectors, with a particular emphasis on religious and historical tourism.

Haj Tawfiq emphasized that the forum will also focus on reconstruction projects in the region, specifically in Syria, Iraq, and Lebanon. Jordan is positioned to act as a regional hub for German companies engaged in these initiatives, further solidifying trade and investment ties between the Arab world and Germany.

During the Berlin session, the Executive Office approved the minutes of their previous joint meeting held in September 2024 and reviewed comprehensive reports from the Chamber’s President and Secretary-General. The group also examined the financial performance of the Arab-German Chamber for 2024, endorsed the draft budget for 2026, and outlined the Chamber’s strategic activities for 2025-2026.

The Jordan Chamber of Commerce’s active participation reflects its commitment to strengthening cooperation within the Arab-German Chamber framework and enhancing trade exchanges between Arab countries and Germany.

Notably, Haj Tawfiq currently serves as the third vice president of the Arab-German Chamber, a position he was elected to by the General Assembly last year. Established in 1976, the Chamber aims to foster economic collaboration between Germany and Arab states, with bilateral trade reaching 62 billion euros in 2023.

Senator Haj Tawfiq also leads the Jordanian delegation at the 28th Arab-German Economic Forum scheduled for tomorrow in Berlin. The forum, themed “Expanding the Horizons of the Arab-German Partnership,” will gather senior officials, decision-makers, investors, and business leaders from both regions to discuss avenues for enhancing economic relations and investment cooperation.
