Cairo, March 01 (QNA) – The Arab League strongly condemned Iran’s targeting of Oman’s Duqm Commercial Port as well as an oil tanker off the coast of Oman, with missiles.

In a statement issued Monday, Arab League Secretary-General Ahmed Aboul Gheit denounced the targeting of facilities in Oman, a country that has made and continues to make significant, serious, and widely recognized mediation efforts for a peaceful solution to be reached between Iran and the United States.

In the same context, Aboul Gheit renewed his condemnation of Iranian assaults and attacks targeting civilian facilities in Arab Gulf countries, deeming them an unacceptable violation of sovereignty and a breach of international law and international humanitarian law, for targeting civilian objects and endangering civilian lives.

The Arab League Secretary-General warned against the repercussions of Iran’s unrestrained military decisions on the security of individuals and facilities, as well as on maritime navigation and energy supplies in the region.

Aboul Gheit said that launching a large number of missiles and drones against civilian facilities in several Arab countries is totally unacceptable and condemned, adding that this cannot be justified under any pretext.

He also reaffirmed full solidarity with all concerned Arab states in any measures they take to safeguard their sovereignty, security, and stability. (QNA)
