Cairo, Aug. 26 (Petra) — Arab League Secretary-General Nabil Fahmy
welcomed the United States’ decision to permanently remove Syria from
its list of state sponsors of terrorism, describing it as an
important step toward recovery and ending decades of prolonged
suffering.
Fahmy said the decision should encourage the international community
to actively support the Syrian government’s efforts to accelerate
recovery and reconstruction, helping meet the Syrian people’s
aspirations for security, stability, and prosperity.
He reiterated the Arab League’s full readiness to fulfill its role in
supporting Syria during the current phase across political and
development fields and to back the Syrian state’s efforts in this
regard.
