Cairo, May 26 (Petra) – Arab Parliament Speaker Mohammed bin Ahmed Al Yamahi condemned the ongoing escalation by Israeli forces against unarmed Palestinians, denouncing what he described as horrific massacres, forced displacement, illegal annexation of land, and repeated provocative incursions into Al-Aqsa Mosque.

In a statement issued by the Parliament, Al Yamahi cited the latest violation as the storming of Al-Aqsa Mosque by Israeli minister Itamar Ben-Gvir, who raised the Israeli flag and performed religious rituals in the mosque’s courtyards an act he described as a blatant provocation to Muslims worldwide and a flagrant breach of international law and United Nations resolutions.

He stressed that the Israeli occupation continues to directly target civilians, destroy homes over residents’ heads, and deprive thousands of basic life necessities. Among the latest casualties was Palestinian doctor Alaa Al-Najjar, who lost nine of her children in a single Israeli airstrike on her family’s home in Gaza while she was fulfilling her humanitarian mission. He also referred to an airstrike earlier today that killed over 40 people and injured dozens at a school sheltering displaced persons an act Al Yamahi called a full-fledged war crime that will not expire with time, for which the occupation bears legal, political, and moral responsibility.

Al Yamahi called on the international community especially the UN Security Council and the United Nations at large to break its silence, fulfill its legal, humanitarian, and moral responsibilities, and take immediate steps to halt what he called a genocide and ongoing massacres. He urged accountability for the perpetrators and the protection of Palestinian civilians, particularly children. He also called for an end to settlement expansion, forced displacement, and annexation policies that undermine prospects for a just and comprehensive peace.

He further warned against ongoing settler violations, under protection of Israeli forces, of Islamic and Christian holy sites, affirming that Al-Aqsa Mosque is a red line and its sanctity must not be violated.

Al Yamahi reaffirmed the Arab Parliament’s full support for the legitimate struggle of the Palestinian people to obtain all their inalienable rights, foremost among them the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital and full international recognition.
