Amman, July 3 (Petra) — The Southern Military Zone intercepted a drug smuggling attempt on Thursday involving a drone that tried to cross into the country from the western border.
A military source from the General Command of the Jordanian Armed Forces – Arab Army stated that Border Guard forces in the Southern Military Zone, in coordination with military security agencies and the Anti-Narcotics Department, intercepted a drone carrying narcotics as it tried to breach the border.
The source explained that rules of engagement were applied after detecting and tracking the drone. It was neutralized and brought down inside the Jordanian territory. The seized materials were handed over to the competent authorities for further investigation.
The source reaffirmed the Jordanian Armed Forces’ commitment to utilizing all available capabilities to prevent the infiltration of illicit substances into the Kingdom and safeguard national security.
