A’Saffa
Foods Raises Annual Broiler Capacity to 60 Million Birds

Thumrait,
16 Aug 2026 (ONA) — The new expansion of A’Saffa Foods contributed to raising
its annual production capacity of broiler chickens to approximately 60 million
birds, while slaughtering capacity reached 200,000 birds daily.

This
expansion comes to meet the local market’s needs for poultry products and open
broader horizons for marketing and exporting to the markets of the GCC.

Hamdoon
Abdullah Al Saqri, Chief Commercial Officer of A’Saffa Foods, said that the
company’s new expansion represents a strategic investment in the future of the
poultry industry and the development of an integrated, more efficient, and
competitive production system.

He
added to Oman News Agency (ONA) that the expansion gives the company the
ability to serve the local market, enhance its contributions to food security,
and provide a production base allowing it to expand into regional markets,
particularly the GCC.

He
explained that the company’s system includes around 225 broiler farms, with the
number of birds on the farms reaching approximately 60 million, alongside
hatcheries with a capacity of up to 72 million eggs, and feed mills with an
annual production capacity of about 130,000 metric tons.

He
affirmed that the integration of this system represents an important factor in
maintaining product quality, raising efficiency, and enhancing added value,
noting that the integration of the production chain—from feed, hatcheries, and
farms down to processing and distribution—gives the company the ability to
control operations, improve quality, and enhance resource utilization
efficiency.

He
pointed out that modern technologies, automation, and smart systems form one of
the main pillars in developing the company’s operations by improving the
management of farms, hatcheries, and feed mills, as well as monitoring
production processes and analyzing data, thereby supporting increased
productivity, reducing waste, and improving the use of water, energy, and feed.

He
stressed that investment in technology represents an essential part of the
company’s strategy, explaining that the company is moving toward a production
system more reliant on data and automation, as technology has become a key
element in elevating efficiency and enhancing the competitiveness of the food
industry.

He
stated that the growth in production capacity comes at a time when the
importance of enhancing local capabilities in food production is increasing, as
the growth of the poultry industry contributes to providing local products,
reducing reliance on imports, and supporting the stability of food supply
chains. He indicated that the company’s new production capacity offers a
significant opportunity to develop its commercial presence outside the local
market, particularly in GCC markets, which represent a natural extension for
Omani products.

He
explained that the impact of the expansion in chicken meat production extends
to a wide chain of activities related to the sector, including feed, veterinary
services, transport, storage, refrigeration, packaging, marketing, and
logistics services.

The
Chief Commercial Officer of A’Saffa Foods noted that the new expansion places
the company at the threshold of a new phase of growth combining increased
production, modern technology, local market enhancement, and export development,
thereby supporting the competitiveness of the poultry sector and bolstering its
contribution to the food security system and the national economy.
