ASE trading volume amounts to JD46.9m last week

Amman, Aug. 22 (Petra) — The Amman Stock Exchange’s (ASE) total
trading volume reached about JD46.9 million ($66.1 million) last
week, compared with JD57.6 million in the previous week. A total of
20.8 million shares were traded through 18,661 transactions.

According to an exchange statement on Saturday, the services sector
ranked first in trading volume at JD19.58 million, accounting for
41.77% of total trading. The financial sector followed with JD19.48
million, or 41.56%, while the industrial sector recorded JD7.81
million, or 16.66%.

In terms of price levels, the ASE general index of stock prices rose
to 3,997.2 points at the close of the week, compared with 3,992
points the previous week, an increase of 0.13%.

Shares of 131 companies were traded during the week. Stock prices of
59 companies rose, while those of 51 companies declined.

Assas for Concrete Products topped the list of companies with the
biggest share-price gains, rising 25.97%, followed by Middle East
Insurance Co. with a 21.08% increase, Noor Capital Markets for
Diversified Investments with 13.01%, Arab Potash Co. with 10.2%, and
Arab European Insurance Group with 9.45%.
