Amman, Aug 10 (Petra) – Austria, France, Canada, and Norway joined Germany, the UK, Italy, Australia, and New Zealand on Saturday in signing a joint statement condemning Israel’s decision to launch a large-scale military operation aimed at occupying the entire Gaza Strip.
The statement warned that the Israeli move would worsen the humanitarian situation, increase the risks of mass displacement of Palestinian civilians from Gaza, and endanger the lives of prisoners.
It also highlighted that “the plans announced by the Israeli government risk violating international humanitarian law, and that any attempt to annex or expand settlements constitutes a breach of international law.”
