Amman, August 17 (Petra) – Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs Mohammad Khalayleh on Sunday attended the graduation ceremony of the top-achieving students of the free summer Quran memorization centers nationwide.
Khalayleh said the ministry’s summer centers, which were launched this year under the theme: “Together We Protect Tomorrow’s Generations from Drugs,” aim to protect Jordanian children from the scourge of drugs by raising awareness of their harms and dangers.
Noting shared partnership to combat this phenomenon, he reiterated the ministry’s mission to preserve the Kingdom’s security and stability, instill moderation values and highlight the bright image of the Islamic religion.
On its wider vision, he also emphasized the ministry’s task to combat societal ills.
Khalayleh expressed his thanks and appreciation for the efforts of the Anti-Narcotics Department (AND) and its personnel’s sacrifices, who exhibited dedication to preserve the society’s security and safety.
In turn, the ministry’s Assistant Secretary-General and Director of Sharia Education, Dr. Hatem Suhaimat, said 235,000 male and female students enrolled in the 3,633 summer centers this year.
On their scope, he noted awareness-raising programs on drug dangers also targeted parents, university students, and representatives of the local community, within dialogue sessions, organized in cooperation with the AND, other relevant police partners, stakeholders.
