Ayla hosts padel tournament to support Jordan’s growing sports sector

Aqaba, May 19 (Petra) — The Ayla Oasis Development Company hosted a
padel tournament organized by Padel Sanctuary in cooperation with the
Jordanian padel application Viltic, as part of efforts to expand and
develop the sport’s presence in Jordan.

Held in a vibrant sporting atmosphere, the tournament attracted more
than 40 players from Jordan and the United Arab Emirates competing in
the 1900-level category, alongside strong audience turnout estimated
at between 200 and 300 visitors over two days of competition.

The event reflected the growing popularity of padel in Jordan and its
emergence as one of the Kingdom’s fastest-growing sports.

Maan Abu Sheikha and Mohammad Ababneh secured first place, while Omar
Safadi and Aoun Bateekhi finished second. Abdul Rahman Falah and
Abdul-Ilah Falah claimed third place following a series of
competitive matches that highlighted the participants’ technical
skills and performance levels.

The closing ceremony was attended by Ayla management representatives,
sponsors, and partners, with awards presented by Ayla Public
Relations Manager Mansour Kabariti in recognition of the winning
teams.

Kabariti said Ayla continues to strengthen its position as a
destination for high-profile sporting events and tournaments that
contribute to promoting sports and tourism activity in Aqaba.

He added that hosting the tournament aligns with Ayla’s vision of
delivering integrated lifestyle and sports experiences while
reinforcing Aqaba’s growing status on the regional sports map.

Director of Padel Sanctuary Joud Abu Shahab said the event
demonstrated the growing enthusiasm for padel in Jordan, citing the
participation of local and international players and the strong
spectator turnout as indicators of the sport’s expanding community
base.

Organizers said the tournament will continue this week with the
second stage dedicated to the 2400-level category, featuring 40 elite
players, including professional coaches from Jordan and Argentina and
members of the Jordanian national padel team.

The event received support from the Aqaba Special Economic Zone
Authority, Aqaba Development Corporation, and Bank al Etihad, in
addition to several sponsors and partners.
