Amman, Sept. 1 (Petra) — The Embassy of Azerbaijan in Amman praised
Jordan’s support for the peace process between Azerbaijan and
Armenia, citing official statements from the Ministry of Foreign and
Expatriates Affairs backing progress toward an agreement between the
two countries.

In a statement, the embassy referred to Jordan’s support for the
agreement reached by the Azerbaijan-Armenia border delimitation
commission and the conclusion of negotiations on the draft agreement
on establishment of peace and relations between the two countries.

The embassy noted that His Majesty King Abdullah II held a phone call
with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev on August 11, 2025, during
which the King congratulated Aliyev and the Azerbaijani people and
expressed hope that the agreements reached would contribute to
lasting peace, security, and comprehensive cooperation in the region.

It also noted that Aliyev met Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan
on Monday on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation
summit in Bishkek, where they discussed practical steps to
consolidate lasting peace and normalise relations between their
countries.

The two leaders underscored the importance of the Washington Peace
Summit held on August 8, 2025, the joint declaration signed by Aliyev
and Pashinyan in the presence of US President Donald Trump, and the
initialling of the agreed text of the agreement on the establishment
of peace and relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia.

They also discussed strengthening economic, trade, and energy
cooperation, as well as connectivity projects under the Trump Route
for International Peace and Prosperity, continued work by government
commissions on border delimitation, and confidence-building contacts
between the two countries’ societies.

The two sides agreed to continue steps aimed at strengthening lasting
peace, normalising relations, and enhancing connectivity between
Azerbaijan and Armenia.
