Manama, March 16 (QNA) – The Public Prosecution in Bahrain ordered on Monday the pretrial remandment of several individuals pending investigation over charges of promoting and glorifying the hostile actes against Bahrain, and referred them to an expedited trial before the competent court.

Bahrain’s Public Prosecution said it received several reports from the Anti‑Cybercrime Directorate indicating that some accounts on social media platforms had been accustomed to spreading footage containing glorification, promotion, in addition to emboldening hostilities against Bahrain, as well as incitement content aiming to destabilize homeland security in the country, Bahraini News Agency reported.

The Bahraini Public Prosecution emphasized that taking advantage of cyberspace in undertaking the aforementioned acts or incitement for instigating instability or demonstrating allegiance to hostile entities represents a compromise to national security that flouts law provisions.

It stressed that legal measures will be taken against everyone who exploits social media to compromise the nation’s security and stability, as such acts amount to grave crimes that endanger state security and society’s safety. (QNA)
