Amman, July 2 (Petra) – Minister of Social Development and Chair of the Inter-Ministerial Committee for Women’s Empowerment, Wafa Bani Mustafa, on Wednesday discussed with Tunisian Ambassador to Jordan, Mufida Zribi, prospects for continued joint cooperation in the social services field.

Talking at the meeting, Bani Mustafa reviewed the key social programs and services provided to Jordan’s target groups, as well as development of the ministry’s work system in both its developmental and welfare aspects.

The minister also noted milestones in terms of legislation and social protection policies, in line with Jordan’s visions of economic, political, and administrative modernization.

On other programs, Bani Mustafa referred to the ministry’s efforts in the field of alternative shelters and shift to inclusive social care, aimed at reintegrating persons with disabilities into their natural environment.

Bani Mustafa touched on the joint efforts to host the Arab Center for Social Policy Studies and Multidimensional Poverty Eradication in Jordan.

In this context, she valued Tunisia’s step to ratify the center’s bylaws, which serve social protection policies and multidimensional poverty eradication, and provide an Arab database that contributes to improving Arab countries’ indicators in international reports.

The minister discussed collaboration within the framework of joint social programs, under the memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed with the Tunisian Ministry of Social Affairs.

The minister noted the ongoing work on the joint executive program of the cooperation agreement in the field of advancing women, families, children, and the elderly, and exchanging the best practices in the social work areas.

The Tunisian ambassador, in turn, praised the level of Jordan’s social services and efforts made to serve target groups, expressing aspiration to deepen mutual cooperation and coordination in this regard.
