KHARTOUM, June 12, 2026 (SUNA) — The Council of Ministers, at its meeting held in Khartoum on Friday under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Dr. Kamil Idris, decided that the government will enter the petroleum products import market with the aim of regulating the market and stabilizing the exchange rate. The Cabinet assigned the relevant authorities in the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Energy, the Central Bank of Sudan, and the Economic Security Service to implement the decision. It also directed security agencies to take the necessary measures to protect the national economy. The decision followed a briefing by the Economic Committee on key economic issues. Minister of Culture, Information, Tourism and Antiquities Khalid Al-Eisir said in a press statement that Friday’s Cabinet session was dedicated specifically to economic issues, particularly petroleum products.He stressed that the decision reflects the Cabinet’s commitment to addressing economic challenges and noted that the measure takes effect immediately.BH/BH
