CBOS Governor Reviews Financial and Economic Performance in Northern State

Dongola, 8-2-2026 (SUNA) – The Governor of the Central Bank of Sudan (CBOS), Amna Mirghani, visited Northern State Sunday to review the region’s financial and economic performance. She was received at Dongola International Airport by the Representative of the Wali of Northern State and Director-General of the Ministry of Finance and Labour, Amir Hassan Al-Bashir.The Wali’s representative told SUNA that the visit covered several economic areas, including foreign trade activity, the activation of gold collection through Northern State’s window, and resolving issues related to gold procurement. The Governor also inspected the new Central Bank branch site in Dongola and reviewed operations at the Northern Microfinance Company.He added that CBOS Governor expressed interest in supporting the company, establishing a microfinance portfolio, and revising legislation and regulations to facilitate smoother foreign trade and curb smuggling operations.Meanwhile, the Director of the CBOS Dongola branch, Al-Tayib Al-Amin Al-Sheikh, confirmed that the Governor reviewed the bank’s oversight of gold purchases from mining companies operating in the state. She also directed efforts to expand banking services to citizens and provide financial support to vulnerable families through a microfinance portfolio contributed to by all commercial banks operating in the state alongside the Central Bank, aimed at supporting the productive sector.BH/BH
