Joint Meeting Endorses State’s Emergency Budget for 2026Khartoum, January 21, 2026 (SUNA) – The Transitional Sovereignty Council (TSC) and the Council of Ministers held a joint meeting in the capital today, presided over by TSC President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, following the return of the Sovereignty Council and the Al-Amal Government to resume their duties from Khartoum.Minister of Culture, Information, and Tourism, Khalid Al-Eisir, told reporters that this was the first meeting of the two councils in 2026, marking a practical inauguration of the executive government’s return, in all its components, to operate from the national capital.The minister announced that the joint meeting approved the state’s emergency budget for 2026, noting that national and executive institutions are operating at a high level of efficiency. He added that the meeting also approved several laws, while deliberations on additional draft laws are ongoing.Al-Eisir said: “We are pleased, alongside all members of the Sovereignty Council under the leadership of Al-Burhan, and the Prime Minister with the Al-Amal Government, to announce to our people that we are now carrying out our duties from the heart of Khartoum.” He called on all citizens to return to their homes, emphasizing the government’s commitment to honour the heroic positions demonstrated by the Sudanese people over the past years in restoring Khartoum to its rightful status and normalcy.The minister also expressed deep appreciation for the immense sacrifices made by the Armed Forces and supporting forces in the Battle of Dignity, and offered prayers for the martyrs who gave their lives in service of the nation.BH/BH
