Khartoum, Aug. 2, 2026 (SUNA) – As part of the historic and growing relations between the Republic of Sudan and the People’s Republic of China, the Chinese Embassy has provided new support to the Ministry of Culture, Information, Antiquities and Tourism through the delivery of a number of equipment items, reflecting the depth of cooperation and the longstanding partnership between the two countries in the cultural, media, and heritage fields. The support extends a continuous series of initiatives provided by the Chinese Embassy to institutions affiliated with the ministry, reaffirming its commitment to promoting cultural work, supporting national institutions responsible for preserving identity and spreading knowledge, and strengthening its partnership with the Ministry of Culture, Information, Antiquities and Tourism. A notable expression of this partnership was the widely recognized tour conducted by Minister of Culture, Information, Antiquities and Tourism Khalid Al-Eisir, accompanied by Chinese Chargé d’Affaires to Sudan Xiu Jian. The tour represented an unprecedented diplomatic event since the outbreak of the war, as the minister accompanied the Chinese diplomat on a field visit through the streets of Khartoum, demonstrating the return of daily life and activity to the capital and conveying a message of reassurance to both the local and international communities regarding stability in the city. Among the latest joint initiatives between the embassy and the ministry was the support provided by the Chinese Embassy to the Public State Library in Port Sudan. The Chinese Pavilion at the Port Sudan Public Library was inaugurated last Wednesday in the presence of the Chinese Chargé d’Affaires. The event reflected the spirit of cultural and intellectual communication between the Sudanese and Chinese peoples, providing a platform to introduce Chinese culture and promote civilizational exchange between the two countries. The Chinese Embassy has also previously organized a cultural event in honor of the Sudanese Acrobatic Troupe as part of its efforts to support cultural activities and encourage artistic exchange between Sudan and China, further strengthening ties between the two institutions and peoples. In the media sector, cooperation between the two sides has contributed to the training of a number of Sudanese media professionals through programs aimed at developing professional capacities and enhancing the exchange of expertise in journalism and communication, reflecting the expanding scope of bilateral cooperation. The cooperation continues through a number of projects and programs being prepared for implementation in the coming period in the fields of culture and media, as well as support for institutions affiliated with the ministry. These initiatives are expected to open new horizons for Sudanese-Chinese partnership and demonstrate that relations between the two countries are built on solid foundations that extend beyond traditional cooperation toward a growing cultural and knowledge partnership. These successive initiatives confirm that Sudanese-Chinese relations are not limited to political and economic cooperation but also extend to culture, media, and heritage, contributing to greater understanding and friendship between the two peoples.BH/BH
