Civil Aviation Authority Announces Launch of Flight Aids Calibration at Airports

Khartoum, April 19, 2026 (SUNA) – The Civil Aviation Authority announced the start of calibration operations for air navigation aids (Flight Calibration) at airports over the coming two weeks, with a Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) to be issued in this regard. The Authority stated that the process aims to ensure the accuracy of ground-based navigation aids and the safety and efficiency of aircraft movement during take-off and landing, particularly under unstable weather conditions. It said the step is an essential component of aviation safety and comes as part of Sudan’s compliance with International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) requirements, carried out in full coordination with relevant authorities. The Authority stressed that air safety at airports and in transit air routes is a top priority, noting that calibration operations are conducted in coordination with the ICAO Middle East Regional Office.BH/BH
