Amman, June 22 (Petra) – Captain Haitham Misto, Chairperson of the Board of Commissioners of the Civil Aviation Regulatory Commission (CARC), said that Jordanian airspace is managed based on a methodology rooted in continuous risk assessment, ensuring that takeoff, landing, and overflight operations meet both international and national aviation safety standards.

Misto stressed that risk identification is a fundamental step toward effective mitigation. He noted that the Commission continuously monitors and assesses potential threats, with decisions such as temporary or full airspace closures taken when necessary to neutralize identified risks.

He highlighted CARC’s adherence to civil-military coordination protocols, in line with international requirements, in addition to its regional coordination with counterpart agencies to ensure the safe and efficient flow of air traffic across the region.

Misto added that current procedures support the continued openness of Jordanian airspace, which has allowed for the uninterrupted movement of air traffic. He stated that the Kingdom is currently facilitating the travel of approximately 16,000 arriving and departing passengers daily.
