Washington, October 19 (QNA) — Meteorologists in the United States have warned of a coastal storm off the East Coast, which is expected to bring strong winds, flooding, and beach erosion over the coming days. The most severe impacts are anticipated in the region stretching from North Carolina to New Jersey.
The US Weather Prediction Center said that the storm, Nor’easter, has formed off the coast of North Carolina. It is expected to remain offshore for most of the week, likely causing intensifying waves and rising water levels, particularly during high tide.
Forecasters noted that the areas most at risk include North Carolina, Virginia, Delaware, and New Jersey. Authorities have issued coastal flood warnings for parts of Maryland, Virginia, and northeastern North Carolina, with water levels potentially reaching up to 60 centimeters above ground in low-lying areas, and wind gusts expected to exceed 72 kilometers per hour.
